Chidambaram (Tamil Nadu) , 11 Mar 2014

AIADMK general secretary and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Tuesday said Indians are of the view that the corrupt Congress should not only be ousted from power but it should not be allowed to return in the future.Addressing an election rally here, 225 km from Chennai, Jayalalithaa said: "Not only you but all over India, people are of the view that the Congress-led government that destroyed the country's economy with its scam-ridden rule should not only be ousted from power but should never be voted in again."She was campaigning for her party's candidate M. Chandrakasi for the seat currently held by Thol Thirumavalavan of the VCK. Thirumavalavan is expected to contest again this time.

Listing out the freebies and other welfare measures implemented by her government, Jayalalithaa recalled the decision to take over the private Annamalai University here."As a result, students are now being admitted on the basis of merit and reservation policy in medicine, dental, engineering and agriculture courses," she said.Charging the centre's step-motherly treatment meted to Tamil Nadu and the support extended by DMK for that, Jayalalithaa said the state is marching ahead despite the hurdles. She said the centre extended help to the Sri Lankan government by providing arms and ammunitions to kill Tamils on the island nation. She said the centre did not act on the various resolutions passed in the assembly on the Sri Lankan issue nor did the DMK party then in the government bother to lay stress on that.

She urged the people to teach the anti-fishermen central government an unforgettable lesson in the ensuing polls.Jayalalithaa said the centre did not allot sufficient kerosene and power from the central pool. She added the centre was hiking oil prices regularly and not setting up the Cauvery Management Board to oversee the implementation of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.Listing out the naval accidents, Jayalalithaa said the centre made the armed forces defenceless by not going in for modernization. "The centre is answerable for the death of armed personnel," the chief minister said.According to her, the wrong economic policies followed by the centre have resulted in lowering of investments, exports and hike in imports.Referring to a case filed by DMK's M.K. Stalin to cover all structures and images resembling her party's two leaves symbol, Jayalalithaa wondered whether he would submit a plea seeking to cover hands of people with gloves since the Congress poll symbol is the hand. She also wondered whether Stalin would seek a ban on sale of mangoes as another party has the fruit as its election symbol.
