State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, today nabbed a member of Punjab State SC Commission Babu Singh Panjawa red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000.Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau said State SC Commission Member Babu Singh Panjawa has been nabbed red handed on the complaint of Major Singh, resident of village Dhaula, district Barnala. He added that a native of village Dhaula, Gurjant Singh had submitted a written complaint to the State SC Commission against Major Singh under SC Act for uttering castiest words to him and the same was being probed by the accused Babu Singh.The spokesperson said complainant Major Singh has approached the Bureau and informed that Babu Singh was demanding bribe of Rs. 5,00,000 for giving decision in his favour on this complaint but the matter was settled to give Rs. 2,50,000 for the same. The complainant informed the Bureau that he has already paid Rs. 2,50,000 to the SC Commission member on 22-10-2017 to exonerate him from the false allegations levelled against him but was demanding Rs. 50,000 more the hand over the copy of verdict.The Spokesman informed that after verifying his information the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused Babu Singh Panjawa was caught red handed at Lambi, Sri Muktsar Sahib district while accepting the bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.He informed that a case u/s 7, 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at police station VB Ferozepur and further investigations was under progress. In addition to this another case u/s 188 IPC have also been registered against Babu Singh at PS lambi, Sri Muktsar Sahib district for carrying a .32 bore revolver in his vehicle as the district administration had already imposed restrictions u/s 144 IPC in the district.
