Choudhary Lal Singh emphasis on preservation of local art, culture

Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Choudhary Lal Singh today called for making dedicated efforts for promotion of creative art and cultural heritage of the state.The Minister was interacting with the young and promising artists of Indian Art Centre (IAC) here today. “It is the duty of every citizen to value and preserve the rich heritage of our composite culture as art and culture evolves over the ages,” the Minister asserted.The Minister asked the budding artists to analyze artworks from the past and infuse it in their canvas. He said that art work holds evidence to life in the past and by looking at it, one can learn about his cultural existence.Ch. Lal Singh said that work of an artist must reflect and live the past for posterity as it plays a vital role in presenting historical and cultural view point. “Studying art from the past helps us understand the evolution of the society,” he added. Ch. Lal Singh said that the government has initiated proactive measures to safeguard and protect cultural diversity of the state and urged the artists to contribute   through their art in this noble cause.

Applauding Indian Art Centre for its initiative to edify students about Basohli art, Ch. Lal Singh said that the management is doing a fantastic work in promoting and popularizing Jammu Dogra Art & Culture.Appreciating the students of IAC for their beautiful paintings, the Minister said that such impressive lot of talent would be provided bigger platform to exhibit their skills. He urged upon all the aspiring artists to put in a dedicated effort and move ahead in a right direction. Artist should be visionary and unambiguous about their work, he added.The Minister also presented Basohli Art Paintings, depicting history, culture and social fabric of Jammu province, to the students of IAC.Pertinently, the Indian Art Centre, under the patronage of Ch. Lal Singh, has dedicated its efforts to promote Basohli Art form of Painting.Guest of honour, Kulsam Akhter, and Chief Organizer of IAC, Poonam Balgotra and Senior functionaries of Indian Art Centre besides Politician Ajay Pargal were present on the occasion.
