Kupwara Police Recovered 'Farooq Codiene' Drug Pedler

Continuing with the special mission of J&K Police to eradicate the drug menace from the society, based on specific information, the special team of District Police Kupwara has today arrested 01 notorious drug peddler identified as Farooq Ahmad Mir @Farooq Codiene S/o Sonaullah Mir R/o Muqam Awoora & recovered 100 bottles of Codeine and some strips of capsule proxovan from his possession. Case FIR No. 254/2017 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Kupwara and investigation is in progress.During the special drive against drug peddlers, the Special team of District Police Kupwara during the current year has achieved major success by arresting 33 accused involved in drug peddling/narcotic smugglers including four cross LoC narcotic smugglers and cases under NDPS Act have been  registered. So far, 13 Kgs of Charas, 2 Kgs of Heroine, 4.5 Kgs of Brown Sugar, huge quantity of codeine and many strips of capsule Proxyvon  have been recovered from the possession of arrested accused persons.

While briefing the media, Shamsheer Hussain SSP Kupwara said that the arrested person is a notorious drug peddler of the district and was also detained under PSA owing to his deeply involvement in drug syndicate across the District.SSP Kupwara further added that more arrests and recoveries are expected in future so as to bust the whole racket involved in sale of banned drugs and psychotropic substances which are involving the youth of the area. He also said that J&K Police under patronage of DGP J&K Shri S.P Vaid, is committed to eradicate the drug menace from the society which is one of the commandments of J&K Police for the year 2017. SSP Kupwara also appealed the local population to assist the police in its special drive so as to make the Kupwara District drug free. Local people of the area have eulogized the role of Kupwara Police for launching effective campaign against drug peddlers and sale of psychotropic substances which according to locals are ruining the health and future of the youth who requires special orientation/education for their bright career.Besides it people hails SSP Kupwara on this move.
