Three children were killed and 11 civilians injured as Pakistani army today resorted to firing and shelling in forward border villages and Indian posts along the Line of Control in Poonch district, officials said.According to officials, the Pakistani Army this morning violated ceasefire and targeted forward Indian posts and villages with small arms and mortars in Qasba and Kerni villages of Poonch. In the firing and shelling, they said, a minor boy namely Ashfaq Ahmed, 9, of Naka Qasba, Yasmeen Akhter,15, of Degwar and Tazeem Akhter,17 were killed while 11 other civilians also sustained injuries out of which three critically injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.The injured were identified as Saleema, 45, Soheeb Akhtar, 11, Mohd Sadiq, 35, Yasar, 12, Mohammad Sadiq, 45, Muneer Hussain, 45, Mohd Rafiq, 38, Reshmabi, 70. According to officials, the Indian troops retaliated effectively to the Pakistani firing.Meanwhile J&K Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh termed the ceasefire violation by the Pakistan as ‘coward act.’ “Pakistan is a terrorist state. On one hand it is showing white flags but on the other, targeting innocent civilians,” he said, adding that Army is giving befitting reply to them. (GNS)
