Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today said major headway has been made in resolving vexed issues confronting the country under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized by Centre for Media Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi on the theme “Peace in Jammu and Kashmir - Challenges and Opportunities.”The function was attended by author and journalist, Tarun Vijay, besides diplomats, academicians from France and Japan, scholars and students also participated.Dr Singh while referring to JK's history said the problem of Kashmir is full of complexities and confusions stretching more than 70 years and several vested interests have been creating further confusion by spreading falsehood and canards. He said since its inception, the current Government is trying its best to do away with the false notions which were being created by the neighbouring country and the thrust is to usher an era of accountability, empowerment and sustained development in the State.

The Deputy Chief Minister said it was due to the faulty policies being adopted that the State was pushed into an era of chaos and political disempowerment, which the current government is addressing  the same steadfastly and results are also coming to the fore. He said the current Central Government is trying its level best to bring the Kashmir problem to a decisive end and it is because of focus shift policy on Kashmir under the leadership of Narendra Modi that the nefarious designs of the enemies of the country are exposed at every diplomatic level across the globe as a result of it many close aides have also started disowning them on every front.The Deputy Chief Minister said the ongoing operations by the security forces in Kashmir have been very successful in neutralizing enemies of peace who are trying to disturb peace and push the State into chaos and confusion. He said the recent NIA raids have further broken the money laundering nexus resulting in sharp decline in the stone pelting incidents.Dr Singh also attended the homage ceremony, organized in the memory of   Lt Ummer Fayaz, Ayub Pandit, at IIC, Delhi.
