Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Rana K P Singh today stressed upon the need to increase the traffic awareness amongst youngsters while flagging off 3rd edition of Shivalik Hill drive organized by Old Cottonian Association (OCA) here from Sector 66 A, JLPL, Mohali at 9 am.Addressing the participants and members of association, Rana K P Singh said that these types of events increase the traffic awareness amongst youngsters besides providing a chance to the old students of Bishop Cotton School to recapitulate their school time memories. Rana said that he was happy to know that the most of the members of OCA were the well known personalities of their respective fields. “I hope that this event will build a sense of camaraderie and brotherhood amongst all these old boys. I wished all the participants good luck and safe driving”, he added.Giving the details regarding 3nd edition of Shivalik Hill drive, Mr Manvir Garon, President OCA India Northern Chapter said that Over 30 Participants from all over Punjab and Haryana & Rajasthan were participating in this event. “The Shivalik hill drive is a TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) drive in which a particular distance has to be covered in a particular time according to the road book. The total distance of the drive will be 150 km and it will culminate at Bishop Cotton School”, he added.Dr Ravi Sher Singh Toor, Secretary OCA Northern Chapter, stated “This is an adventure for the whole family. TSD Events are run on public roads, in normal cars, at speeds that are within the legal limit. A TSD Event is not a race. If the vehicle is late a penalty is incurred and if the vehicle is early a double penalty is incurred, at the end the vehicle with minimum penalty will be the winner. The idea behind such an event is to promote road etiquette, safety, disciplined driving and fundraising for the School.”
