Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Bukhari today held a Public Darbar in Sangarama Constituency to address the public grievances and take firsthand account of the problems being faced by the people living in the area.The Minister was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Nisar Ahmad Naqash, Additional District Development Commissioner Barammula Farooq Ahmad Baba and officials of various departments including Health, Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC), Horticulture, Agriculture, Rural Development and Power Development Department (PDD).The Darbar was attended by a large number of people who apprised the Ministers about their problems and developmental needs and sought redressal of their grievances. Minister gave patient hearing to the people and assured that their genuine demands will be redressed. Minister also passed on-spot directions with regard to various grievances flagged by the locals.
Lauding the efforts of the district administration for organizing such event, the Minister said that the district administration will hold regular Public Darbars in remote areas to bring government at their door step.
Bukhari said Public Darbars are being held to address their problems and to meet their developmental needs. He also issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned to address the genuine problems at the earliest.Later, the Minister distributed cheques worth Rs 87 lakh among 30 beneficiaries under National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and rupees 40 lakh under Swachh Bharat Mission (SMB).The Minister stressed upon district administration for taking more initiatives for empowering women, besides sanitation, hygiene and organizing mass awareness programs in the area.The Minister said that government is taking various measures to develop tourist infrastructures to attract adventure tourists, fish angular and pilgrimages tourists in the area. He briefed about the various developmental works going on in the areas under various agencies like Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGYS), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), PHE, F&IC, PDD and Horticulture Department.Terming grower as ‘heart’ and trader as ‘brain’ of the horticulture sector, the Minister said that the Horticulture Department will soon conduct Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) election in the State to streamline the trade exercises of horticulture sector.
Bukhari said that the PHE and I&FC department have taken various innovative initiatives for better water management on modern and scientific line in the area.Speaking on the occasion, DDC Baramulla said that district government will also organize Public Darbars in future to bridge the gap between government offices and masses for proper implementation of public welfare schemes as well as development programs. The DDC stressed upon the officials for creating public friendly environment in government offices and for taking initiatives for public awareness, confidences building and trust building.He also urged people for utilizing public welfare schemes, besides taking advent of acts like Right to Information (RTI) and Public Service Guarantee Act.Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC Barammula lauded the efforts of the officials for timely execution of various developmental programs in the area. He stressed upon officials of different department to work with close coordination for better and timely implementation of government programs and public welfare schemes.
