The Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology Ch Lal Singh today called for creating mass awareness about the govt schemes designed to bring discernible change in living condition of the common man. “The growth and development of people is the core agenda of our coalition Government. It is making path breaking strides in service deliver and taking development to every individual in remotest areas,” the minister was speaking after launching several important projects in Basohli,   including road and creation of Forest infrastructure at an estimated cost of Rs 2.20 Crore.Meeting the long pending demand of local people, the Minister kick started blacktopping work of 8 KM Mahanpur-Danni road to be executed by PWD at an estimated budget of Rs 2 Crore. The foundation Stone for Block Officer Hut was also laid by the Minister at Mahanpur, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh.

At the outset, the Minister said that the pending payments for works undertaken under MGNREGA in the past 2 years and installment of PMAY will be reimbursed soon among the legible people.   He exhorted upon the officers to create mass awareness regarding various central and state welfare schemes so that the benefits percolate down to the last man standing in the queue.Highlighting the tourism potential of Basohli, Ch Lal Singh said the area has all ingredients to attract high end tourists. “With increased footfall of tourist the art of Basohli paintings and Pashmina will also get new lease of life and create employment opportunities for the local stakeholders, he said.While listing tourism infrastructure facilities being developed around Ranjit Sagar lake, the Minister informed that a five kilometer bridle-path will be developed along the Lake having resting benches, view platforms so that the tourists can have good view of serene Ranjit Sagar Lake and also enjoy boating.Several HoDs of various wings of Forest department, Engineers, District Officers, DFOs and prominent members of civil society were present on the occasion.
