Coordinator Chief Minister's Grievance Cell, Tassaduq Mufti, today advocated for abolition of interview system for Class IV jobs as complaints were received by the Cell about delay in recruitment for such vacancies in various Departments across the State. While reviewing the grievances registered with the Grievance Cell, the Coordinator said that majority of them pertain to recruitment of Class IV posts. “The recruitment process is kept lingering for years altogether resulting in out pouring of grievances and accentuation feelings of dissatisfaction, and discontentment,” he said.Tassaduq Mufti said that there is an immediate reason for abolishing the interview process for Class IV posts which would result in fair selection, transparency, cut down expenditure and result in fewer interfaces in the process.“The selection for Class IV posts needs to be based on merit of written exam and in case of jobs requiring special skills or physical tests these should be qualifying nature only. The Union Government has already abolished the interview process for class III and class IV posts. There is an immediate need for change in recruitment policy in the State,” he added. If implemented, he said, such a step would usher in an era of citizen centric transparent governance. The Coordinator said that the recommendations would be placed before the Chief Minister for her consideration.
