Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali today concluded his 4-day extensive visit to Zanaskar valley during which he inaugurated the ‘Make Kargil Open Defecation Free’ campaign from Parkachik village. During his visit, the LC Chairman met various pubic deputations of Zanaskar Sub Division who apprised him of issues confronting them. The Chairman gave a patient hearing to their grievances and gave on spot directions to the authorities to redress these issues on priority.Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil Stanzin Sonam, Councilor LAHDC Kargil Skalzang Wangyal, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, SSP Kargil T Gyalpo and senior leader Kacho Gulzar Hussain and Aga Syed Abul Hassan along with OC Project VIJAYAK and district officers accompanied him during the visit.Haji Anayat announced more than 32 Generators and Community Kitchen sets on the demand of the villagers from his CDF, 3 Computer sets for different schools and gonpa, approved 5 community halls, one V.Sat each for improving the computer education for Middle School Tungri and Sani Gonpa, Rs 5 Lakh from his CDF for development works in Secpad School Karsha Ulsom.He directed Exen PWD Zanskar to prepare DPRs for drinking Water Supply projects, Up-gradation of link roads, constructing Motorable Bridges along with approach roads, and informed the people that the current government has approved several key projects under PMGSY and CRF for Zanskar Sub Division.
He said that the present government led by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is committed to provide electricity up to the remotest areas of the State and soon Zanskar town will get electricity from one megawatt Solar Power Station for which the tendering processes has started. He also directed Project Director KREDA to look for possibilities of electrifying some villages from Solar SPVs.Haji Anayat Ali also visited various Gonpas (Monasteries) and met the religious leaders there. He said that religious tourism is one of the main part of the tourism in Kargil and Gonpas have a central role in this. He said that the Chief Minister has recently passed a special package for providing funds for the development and protection of all the Gonpas in Kargil District particularly in Zanaskar.He directed Executive Engineer Zanaskar Development Authority to include monasteries like Karsha, Bardan etc under the jurisdiction of ZDA and prepare DPR for the maintenance and development of these Gonpas as well as Zangla Khar Gonpa which is more than 800 years old so that more and more tourist are attracted to the region.While interacting with the people of Rangdum, Haji Anayat Ali said that a helipad has been sanctioned for the area by the State Government and directed Deputy Commissioner Kargil to finalize the formalities for Demarcation of land and directed to construct temporary helipad at Tashi Tongdae.The LC Chairman also met with representatives of Buddhist and Muslim Communities separately and urged them to maintain communal harmony and religious brotherhood for a peaceful and prosperous Zanskar Valley.
