Election Deptt organizes training programme for updating service voter data

The State Election Department today organized a day-long training programme for Electoral Registration Officers and Election Naib Tehsildars of Kashmir Division on De-Novo preparation of last part of electoral rolls for the service voters. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Krishan Lal said the aim of organizing the programme was to sensitize the concerned about their role and responsibility during the process of registration of service voters, saying it is the  new initiative of Election Commission of India to fine-tune the list of service voters in armed and paramilitary forces.Giving brief about the schedule of De-Novo preparation-2017, the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer informed that the preparation of last  part of the electoral rolls for service personnel will  commence from August 25 and the final publication of the roll will be made on October 18, 2017. He informed that the draft publication will be available on September  4, while as checking of draft roll and forwarding of  corrected data by record officers  and preparation of additional lists of EROs shall be by September 15 and  September 22, 2017 respectively. The record officers shall return extracts after verification by October 4 and EROs shall carry out corrections by October 13, he further informed.The eligible service elector can apply or submit fresh statement online in the prescribed forms for which a dedicated portal http://servicevoter.nic.in has been made operational.The Master Trainers Assistant Commissioner, Revenue Tariq Hussain and Deputy District Election  Officer Sapna Kotwal imparted training during the training programme through power point presentation which was highly appreciated by the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer.During the training Electoral Registration Officers, Election Naib- Tehsildars of Kashmir Division, besides other officials of election department participated.
