Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today finalized the arrangements for establishment and launching of universal Centre for women, which will serve as a one-stop Centre for all women related issues and their grievances.SSP Yougal Manhas, SE PHE Rafiq Khan, CMO Dr Suresh Kumar, PO ICDS, DSWO, DIO-NIC, General Manager BSNL, Exen EM&RE, PHE, REW; AD FCS&CA and other officers of concerned departments attended the meeting.The Centre will serve the women affected by violence in private or at public places, within family, community or at work places. Apart from providing a Library, Skill Development Center, Gymnasium, Grievance Redressal cell and Counselling cell, the Center will also deal with issues related to physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse of women. It will also keep a vigil on issues of drug abuse, rehabilitation, relief and assistance measures.The district administration established the building and infrastructure in a short period of three months and the Centre is being started for providing all services under one roof. It will also be a coordination centre for issues related to Police and Health.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed the arrangements related to office, call centre, power/water supply, video conference facility, accommodation, furnishing, procurement, legal aid, police assistance, health facilities, sports, education and skill development.It was said that MLC Ms Shahnaz Ganai has also contributed Rs 5 lakh for Women Gymnasium as a part of this Centre. Funds under various centrally sponsored schemes have also been dovetailed.The one-stop Center, first of its kind in the State, will formally start functioning in September and arrangements were finalized for its smooth functioning and providing maximum benefit to the women in the district.Nodal Officer OSC Dr Abdul Khabir, and DSWO made a detailed presentation about various components of the Centre and status of facilities being provided there. The DC complimented REW for quality work and time-bound completion as per tasks assigned.A management committee headed by DM and comprising SSP, Secretary DLSA, Chairman, Bar Council, Chief Medical Officer, PO ICDS, DSWO, PO-DRDA and DPO will manage the functioning of the universal one-stop Center for women.
