Chief Secretary V.C.Pharka today inaugurated 'Book Hub' in the old DC office complex at Solan, which will have reading room facility and a library will also be established in it.Speaking on the occasion, he said that the book hub would go a long way in facilitating youth, students and senior citizens of the town. He directed the district administration to provide books relating to all subjects in the library, especially books for competitive examinations.Shri Pharka appreciated the efforts of district administration for establishing book hub and assured that adequate funds would be provided for developing it. He asked the administration to explore possibilities for setting up a coaching centre for competitive exams of various banks. He directed for providing photostat facility in the library.The Chief Secretary urged the students to take maximum benefit of this facility provided in the town so that they could get success in various competitive and general examinations.He requested the officers of the district and teachers to visit library to guide the students. He added that on the demand of the district administration, specialists would also be arranged from Shimla.Shri Pharka honoured Anshul Rana and Amit, both EMT of 108 National Ambulance Service for their outstanding services who have also been honoured with national award. Solan Deputy Commissioner Shri Rakesh Kanwar said that upto 150 youth would be able to read in the book hub at the same time, which would remain open from 6 am to 10 pm. The students would also be allowed to carry their own books to the reading room.Shri Kanwar said an auditorium is also being set up in the DC office complex for organizing literary activities. He added that separate branch of library would be set up for senior citizens and children in old SDM office in the next phase.
