State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) Friday asked the R&B Department to pay due compensation to petitioners from Nussu Badragund village of Qazigund whose land came under a development work in 2005-06.According to the Secretary SHRC, a case regarding land (Aabi-Awal) compensation taken by R&B Department way back in 2005-06 for construction of 18 feet wide road from village Nussu Badragund to Mirpora was again listed before the Chairperson of the Commission, Justice (Retd) Bilal Nazki. “The Chairperson took serious note of non-payment of compensation to the petitioners. The Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Anantnag appeared in person and submitted that amount estimated has been arranged and the same will be disbursed to the claimants within a period of one week,” a statement of the SHRC said.The Assistant Commissioner was given four weeks time to do the needful and report the Commission about it.Besides, Chairperson observed that the interest at the rates provided under Land Acquisition Act be also paid to the petitioners, the statement added.
