The Vice Chairman Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation Nizam-ud-Din Bhat today expressed dismay over the swelling service and statutory liabilities of the two Corporations causing distress among workers and the employees.Interacting with the workers and union leaders of the employees of the two sectors, Bhat informed them about the efforts being made by the management to clear the liabilities and ensure regular payment of remunerations. He said that unrest and adverse natural interventions have set a blow to this social sector of fame and workers are unable to run business of the Corporations in absence of adequate resources.Bhat said that the two Corporations would have come to virtual closure but for the concern of the Government towards the vital areas, of social and economic importance. He said the projects, business contracts and administrative incentives are in progress as part of sustenance and revival plan and expressed confidence that the things will change for better. He said that employees of two Corporations have not received salaries from last seven months. In this regard, the Vice Chairman appealed the Chief Minister, the Finance Minister and Industries Minister to help adopt two-pronged strategy of extending one time financial support to meet salary liabilities and providing of revolving run business to save the traditional art and craft. He said till employees get their pending dues and salary component is not regularized, manufacturing, production and quality is bound to suffer and state may lose its vital component of employment and identity.
