DGP chairs meeting regarding arrangements, directs officers to ensure huge public participation

The 29th Police Public Mela will be held on 24th of September 2017 at summer capital Srinagar. This was revealed at a senior police officers meeting, chaired by Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S.P Vaid  at Police Headquarters here today.Speaking on the occasion, DGP impressed upon the heads of different wings of police to ensure greater participation of public by making innovations and suitable, appropriate changes in layout/ presentation and by increasing the stalls and amusement points on the Mela day. He directed the organisers and chairmen of different committees to make hassle free arrangements for the different events in connection with the organising of this hugely popular Mela.Dr. Vaid directed HoDs of different police wings to make such an arrangements that the tickets/ coupons are available to the general masses at convenient places to ensure greater public participation. He impressed upon the officers to liaise with the organisation and departments including Khidmat Centres for this. He also sought suggestions with regard to making the coupons available on line.

AIG (Welfare)PHQ Dr. Haseeb Mughal gave a detailed presentation regarding the Mela and informed the meeting that a record number of 7847 prizes are up for grabs in the Mela which include twenty cars, seven scooties, seven motor Cycles, seven laptops, seven LEDs, seven refrigerators, seven tabs, seven smart phones and thousands of  cash prizes. Besides the draw lots, which is main attraction of the Mela, Police Wives Welfare Associationis organising various events which include Children competition and amusement items for them. Police Band, orchestra and local folk dance has also been planned for the Mela.It was informed during the meeting that a number of stalls would be set up by different wings/ units of J&K Police at the venue on the Mela day.The meeting was attended by ADsGP Sh. VK Singh, Sh.L Mohanti, Sh.AK Choudhary, IsGP Sh.SJM Gillani, Sh.AG Mir, Sh.Alok Puri, Sh.Muneer Ahmad Khan, Sh. Sunil Kumar, Sh.Danesh Rana, Sh.Jagjit Kumar, Sh.MA Ganaie, Sh.J.P Singh, Sh.Alok Kumar, S.Ahfadul Mujtaba, DIG Ghulam Hassan Bhat , Director Telecom Sh. Hilal Ahmad, AIsGP PHQ,OSD PHQ and Sr. ADO PHQ.The officers discussed the arrangements and put a number of suggestions with regard to different aspects/ arrangements of the Mela. (GNS)
