Remembering 'Himachal Nirmata' Dr. Y.S.Parmar, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that besides being a reputed politician Dr. Parmar was a great visionary and dynamic leader who dedicated his entire life for development of the hill people.He said this after offering floral tributes on the statue of the first Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Parmar on his 111th birth anniversary at the historic ridge and later in a function organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Parmar at State Vidhan Sabha today.The Chief Minister was accompanied by state Congress party affairs in-charge Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde, Member of Parliament from Supaul, Bihar and co-incharge HPCC Smt. Ranjeet Ranjan, Secretary AICC Smt. Asha Kumari besides Cabinet colleagues, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs both of ruling and Opposition and Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of various Boards and Corporations and officers of the State government.
The Chief Minister said that it was the struggle led by Dr Y S Parmar that this hill state got a separate entity, size and status to lay a solid foundation for its development in the initial years. The statehood set the pace for speedy development to fulfill the dreams of Dr Parmar, who wanted to see the hill people to have their own identity. His vision was quite clear and the strenuous task to realize this vision was fulfilled on attaining of Statehood in 1971 due to his forceful persuasion and advocacy with the central leadership.He said that the issue raised by Dr Parmar pertaining to statehood was taken lightly by some but his dreams have been accomplished."The people of State will remain indebted to him for his tireless efforts for getting separate political identity to the State”, said the Chief Minister adding that whatever has been achieved by the State, was due to the path shown by him.Speaker HP Vidhan Sabha Shri Brij Bihari Lal Butail said that Dr. Parmar had a lot of knowledge of human psychology as well and he made research in Himalayan polyandry. He was a great litterateur and always evinced keen interest in reading and writing.
