DC Kupwara reviews arrangements for I-Day celebrations

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, Sunday convened a meeting to review the preparedness and arrangements put in place by different departments associated with the district administration for Independence Day celebrations in the district.The meeting was informed that the main function of the celebrations will be held at District Police Lines, Kupwara, where the chief guest of the day will hoist the National Flag at 9 am followed by inspection of parade and taking of the salute.It was said that while the march-past will be given by contingents of  JKP, JKAP, CRPF, IRP, District Police, Fire and Emergency, Forest Protection Force, Police Band, Home Guard, some 450 students from 11 different educational institutions will participate in six different colorful cultural programmes.During the meeting, the DC constituted a team of officers to oversee the preparedness at all levels for smooth and successful conduct of I-Day celebrations. He also directed for ensuring first aid arrangements among other required arrangements for participants in the celebrations.The DC also instructed the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted drinking water and power supplies to the venue on the day of I-Day celebrations.ADC Handwara, SSP Kupwara, CPO, ACR among other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
