Deputy Commissioner, Tariq Ahmad Zargar, today convened a meeting of officers, technical experts from SDRF and defense personals to discuss disaster management preparedness in the district in view of prevailing rainy season and flood apprehension.The DC called for close coordination among various departments to deal with any calamity effectively at the time of emergency.The DC reviewed the preparedness to deal with disaster like flash floods and possible adverse weather eventualities. He asked the officers and officials to identify the vulnerable areas for natural disasters especially flood zones so that appropriate measures be taken to avoid any damage.The meeting was informed that there are twenty two areas which have been declared flood prone in the district besides various protections works are going on in flood prone areas in Surnkote, Mandi and Poonch.Directions were given for the treatment of Surn-Mandi river beds to facilitate people living near river beds during summer season.The team of technical experts from SDRF also apprised the meeting regarding the availability of rescue equipments.The meeting was attended by ADDC, SSP, ADC, SE hydraulic, Rajouri-Poonch range, ACD, Executive Engineers of Public works department, Irrigation & flood control, PHE, PDD, EO Municipality, officers from 93infantry brigade, DySP SDRF and deputy commandant CRPF.
