Capitol Cancer Care, a comprehensive cancer center at Capitol Hospital Jalandhar, is emerging as regional cancer center with the addition of faculty from reputed institutions and high-end technology with the objective to provide world class cancer care in a city like Jalandhar itself.Cancer patients from upper northern part of the country usually travel for long hours to Ludhiana, Delhi or Bikaner in order to get expert advice or full treatment.  No doubt it raises the cost of treatment as patients have to spend a huge amount on travel and accommodation in a major city during the period of treatment apart from the cost of treatment itself. But now Capitol Hospital Jalandhar is leaving no stone unturned in order to facilitate advanced cancer treatment and care in a better environment locally to the residents of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. With this mission, Capitol hospital has proudly announced the addition of another renowned cancer specialist Dr. S. K. Pruthi (Chairman, Capitol Hospital) said, “Our three-year journey has finally paid off as cancer patients can receive full treatment and services here in Jalandhar, closer to their social support structure, which is crucial for the recovery of a patient.  That’s why we have brought cancer experts from very reputed cancer centers like Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute New Delhi and Tata Memorial Centre Mumbai to Jalandhar in order to develop Capitol Cancer Care as one of the best regional cancer centers. Now we welcome Dr. S. K. Sharma to the Capitol family and hope to serve the largely underserved region in terms of advanced therapy.”Dr. S. K. Sharma, “It is my honor to be part of such a facility that represents a new dawn of comprehensive cancer care. The beginning of advanced oncology services in Jalandhar is the result of a strong team with constant efforts over last 3 years. I am committed to bringing quality services, excellent patient care and smooth operation of the department.”Dr. Harnoor Singh Pruthi (Director Medical, Capitol Hospital) said, “To ensure best quality services, Capitol is a part of National Cancer Grid (NCG) which is a network of major cancer centers and research institutes across India with the mandate of establishing uniform standards of patient care for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Similarly, weekly  Tumour Board Meetings are conducted in which complex cancer cases are discussed among a panel of specialists to define the execution of best treatment approach.”  The dream of CANCER FREE PUNJAB has led to the establishment of the comprehensive cancer center in the region with world class facilities providing 360-degree approach via Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Onco-Pathology, Onco-Radiology and other specialties under one roof to free the patients from unnecessary hassles. The NABH accredited hospital has cashless treatment facility for various organizations like ECHS, ESI, FCI, RCF, Northern Railways and other private TPAs.With an aim to focus on the challenges at the root cause of the widely spread disease, Capitol has launched an exclusive Cancer Helpline and is about to start outreach clinics in different parts of regions. On this occasion, Dr. Pruthi also announced Cancer Screening Week at Capitol Hospital from 19th July to 25th July during which free cancer consultation will be provided along with discount up to 30% on the treatment of cancer.
