Consequent to visiting the site of the tragic accident, accompanied by Chief Secretary, DGP and CEO Shrine Board, in which an SRTC bus rolled down the road into a khud, resulting in 16 yatris being killed and 29 injured, Governor N.N. Vohra,Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, was informed that the accident had taken place because a tyre of the bus had burst and the vehicle had gone out of control.Governor directed Sh. B.B. Vyas, Chief Secretary who was accompanying him, to immediately ensure that no SRTC bus is deployed on long distance duty, particularly across the Banihal, which has not been thoroughly checked and certified fit for operation by a responsible ranking SRTC officer.
