DC Kulgam reviews progress in agriculture, allied sectors

District Development Commissioner Talat Parvez Rohella today convened a meeting of District officers of Agriculture and allied sectors here today to review the progress made under various developmental schemes.The meeting aimed at bringing all stakeholders together so that schemes like Mudra Yojana and Stand-Up India are implemented effectively and efficiently.In the meeting, DDC took a detailed review of progress made in the district regarding implementation of board decisions in these sectors.The DDC was apprised that Sheep Husbandry Department is going to establish Sheep Parks in each constituency where mass dosing and vaccination drives shall be undertaken regularly. District Sheep Husbandry Officer briefed the meeting that under PMEGP establishment of four units in wool yarn, knitting, wool grading besides sheep breeding farm is being considered by the department.

Regarding horticulture sector, the meeting was informed that two major nurseries one at Manzgam and other at Waripora have been developed to boost horticulture sector in the district.The DDC directed the concerned District officer for early establishment of grading and packing units in Kulgam for which land has already been identified.Laying stress upon officers to work towards encouraging unemployed youth to be self-reliant, the DDC directed officers to speedup pending cases of loans awaiting departmental approval.The DDC enjoined upon the officers to develop timely Entrepreneurial Culture to boost the economy of district by way of credit linkage in various departments by involving young entrepreneurs.
