In order to review the progress of major power developmental projects being implemented under various flagship programmes, the District Development Commissioner Kupwara today convened a meeting of senior officers and field functionaries of the Power Development Department.Superintending Engineers of various wings, Exen PDD Kupwara/Handwara Exen STD Sopore, Exen PDC Baramulla, Chief Planning Officer and other concerned attended the meeting.While reviewing the electricity supply scenario in the dsitrict, it was given out that 3 power receiving stations, 239 sub stations besides 2400 transformers are functioning in the district with 76000 consumers register with PDD. It was also said that 16 villages covering 89 habitations are being electrified under DDUJY at an estimated cost of Rs.1 crore. It was said that by the end of October 2017 the district would be fully electrified.
The meeting also reviewed the status of R-APDRP, IPDS PMDP (Urban) schemes for Kupwara and Handwara towns. It was said that an amount of Rs 51 crore is being spent in the towns for upgradation and strengthening of power distribution system.Further, it was said that 90 kms of road length are being blacktopped under Cities and Towns programme in the District, while as Seven new roads are being taken up for execution under CDF, as the tendering process has already been completed. Under PMGSY, 12 developmental schemes are being implemented under 9th phase and 21 schemes are being executed under phase 10th.The meeting was further informed that the construction of Government Degree College Handwara hostel is in final stages of completion.The DDC was informed that IPD Block District Hospital Kupwara, SD Sogam, SDH Kralpora, Government Degree Collage Tangdar, Government Womens College Kupwara, Rural Development Office Complex, Auditorium Hangah etc. will be completed during the current financial year.
