Governor reviews Yatra after terror attack

After the terror attack on Yatra pilgrims late last evening, resulting in 7 pilgrims being killed and 19 injured, Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, held a mid-night meeting to review the course of the Yatra. It was decided that the pilgrimage shall continue without any diminution whatsoever and this decision was conveyed to all Camp Directors and to the Yatri Niwas, Jammu, from where pilgrims leave for the Valley in a convoy every morning.Today morning Governor held a meeting, in the Yatra Control Room, with Shri Umang Narula, CEO, Shri Jitendra Singh, Additional CEO, and other senior officers of the Shrine Board, to monitor the pace of today’s pilgrimage.

It was reported to him that:

3289 pilgrims had left Jammu at 3 am in the morning for Pahalgam and Baltal Yatra Base Camps,  by 10.30 am today 18838 pilgrims had left for the Holy Cave Shrine from Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panjtarni and Baltal Yatra Camps; 5556 pilgrims who left Chandanwari this morning would need to halt en-route and reach the Shrine the next day.  The Heli-services from Pahalgam and Neelgrath are operating normally as the weather is clear.

Governor directed CEO to ensure that, with effect from today, twice a day review meetings are held.
