DDC Kupwara reviews progress under flagship programmes, follow-up on DDB decisions

District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, today convened a meeting to review the overall progress achieved under various flagship programmes and Kupwara District Development Board 2017-18 decisions.Superintending Engineers of various wings, Exen PDD Kupwara/Handwara Exen STD Sopore, Exen PDC Baramulla, Chief Planning Officer and other concerned attended the meeting.The meeting held threadbare review of physical and financial achievements under various developmental programmes carried out during the current fiscal and the commitments made by the Ex-Chief Minister Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during his tour to Kupwara district.While reviewing the electricity supply scenario, it was given out that 3 power receiving stations, 239 sub stations besides 2400 transformers are functioning in the district with 76000 consumers register with PDD. It was also said that 16 villages covering 89 habitations are being electrified, in which 7 villages have been taken up in first phase. An amount of Rs 33 crore is being spent in Handwara and Kupwara towns under electricity up-gradation works.

Under R&B Sector, the meeting was informed that 44 kms of road length is being blacktopped, while as two roads in Kupwara town are under construction under CRF.The DDC directed the executive agencies working on projects under R&B, NFB, PMGSY JKPCC, PHE, I&FC for clearing the work done liability on account of various ongoing works. He also stressed on prioritising projects which may be completed during the current financial year for commissioning   in the district.He  also directed them to expedite the works under their execution within the stipulated time which include PHC Trehgam, four additional rooms for Higher Secondary School Trehgam, Macadamization of Reshipora road and Kupwara town roads.  The meeting was informed that six bridges are under construction in the district.The meeting was further informed that the construction of Government Degree College Handwara hostel is in final stages of completion, while auditorium in Hangah constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 358.21 lacks would be completed by this October.
