Cop wounded in militant attack in Anantnag

A cop was critically injured after he was fired upon by suspected militants in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.Reports and eyewitnesses said that suspected militants targeted a police party on Yatra duty near General Bus Stand in Anantnag town, resulting in the injuries of a policeman who has been identified as Constable Ghulam Hasan.The wounded cop has been rushed to hospital for advanced treatment. Hospital sources said that the cop has received grievous injuries. Reports said that woman also received injuries in the attack.Locals alleged that men from Territorial Army shortly after the attack attacked shopkeepers and damaged their merchandize. They said that some of the shopkeepers were ‘ruthlessly’ beaten up. Majority of the shopkeepers after the incident lowered their shutters while roadside vendors fled from the spot.A local Journalist from Daily Rising Kashmir identified as Sheikh Mashooq according to reports was also thrashed by men from Territorial Army when he performing his professional duties.
