An alleged security personnel was lynched to death by a group of people after he was spotted outside Jamia Masjid, Nowhatta area of Old City in Srinagar on Thursday night.Reports and eyewitnesses told GNS that a group of youth caught hold the alleged security personnel in civvies outside Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta and thrashed him. In the melee, the person opened fire upon them resulted in injuries to three persons.The injured have been identified as Danish Mir, Mudasir Ahmad and Sajad Ahmad Bhat and were hospitalized, they said.The incident happened when Shab-e-Qadr prayers were under way in the historic mosque.A police officer when contacted told GNS that a body which was lying in Nowhatta was recovered and his identity is being ascertained.We have checked the man does not belong to police department, further investigations are under way", the officer said.Sources said that the man is without circumcision. They also said that the slain was carrying a pistol and it was snatched from him.Meanwhile, sources said that at the time of recovering the body, government forces opened several shots in air which created panic in the entire area and some people ran for cover.
