Confusing situation prevailed in Kashmir today as some parts were shut, others restricted by authorities and the rest remained open and normal.Though there was no shutdown called by the separatists, yet south Kashmir remained shut against the civilian and militant killings in an encounter in Arwani area in Anantnag district on Friday.According to KNS correspondent, a spontaneous shutdown was observed in parts of Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama districts against these killings. This was the second consecutive day when shutdown was observed in these districts.Three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed in Arwani village of Anantnag during an encounter on Friday. Two civilians were killed after forces opened fire to disperse protesters marching towards the encounter site to help the militants escape.

All shops and other business establishments remained closed in the town while public transport is off the roads. But since today was Sunday holiday, the offices and educational institutes were closed.In Srinagar life in many parts was normal, but life as affected due to the restrictions imposed by the administration in police jurisdictions including Khanyar, MR Gunj, Nowhatta, Rainawari and Safakdal as “precautionary measure”.However, civil lines and other localities in the city were normal as traffic plied normally. Shops and flea market saw a heavy rush of shoppers as they were purchasing household items for incoming Eid-Ul-Fitr. Life in north Kashmir was completely normal. (KNS)
