Vigilance nabs SDO and JE accepting bribe of Rs. 80,000

State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, today nabbed a SDO and Assistant JE of PSPCL red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 80,000.Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Baldev Singh SDO and Rajesh Kumar AJE, both posted at PSPCL Khanna-2, have been nabbed red handed on the complaint of Sunil Gujral, resident of Nand Singh Avenue, Khanna, district Ludhiana.He added that the complainant has approached the Bureau and informed that both the accused were demanding bribe of Rs. 3,00,000 lakh from him to remove the overhead wires passing over his residential house and the deal was struck at to give Rs. 1,00,00 lakh in advance and the remaining amount to be handed over after removing these 11 KV wires. The complaint Sunil Gujral also informed that he had already paid Rs. 20,000 to the accused as a part of first instalment and the remaining amount of Rs. 80,000 to be handed over the next day.

The Spokesman informed that after verifying his information the Vigilance team laid a trap and both the accused were caught red handed while accepting the bribe of Rs.80, 000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. On the information of JE Rajesh Kumar, the Vigilance team has also recovered Rs. 20,000 during search of his house.He said a case under section 7, 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and 120-B of IPC has been registered against him at Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Ludhiana and further investigation was under progress.
