Governor interacts with delegation from Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies Jaipur

A delegation of theCentre for Peace and Conflict Studies (CPCS) led by Commandant Sh. R. K. Arora, some members of CPCS Faculty and participants of  the ‘Executive Program in Conflict and Security Studies (EPCSS) met Governor N.N. Vohra at the RajBhavan here today. CPCS is a part of Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice, Rajasthan, and deals with executive education and research on internal security, counter terrorism, countering violent extremism, border security and strategic affairs with the objective of helping in enhancing national security.The delegation is here to study various aspects of terrorism and unrest in Kashmir, which is a part of the module on ‘National and International Security’ of the Executive Program.The CPCS has also been researching various dimensions of the Kashmir situation and has given recommendations, from time to time, for prevention and resolution of the conflict.

During discussions with the delegation, the Governor stressed the importance of critically analysing all aspects of the disturbances and the operations  carried out by the Security  Forces to deal with them, the factors responsible for the success or failure of the approaches followed, reasons for the local populations  getting involved etc. He urged the officers to see that their research findings prove useful for the policy makers and the leaders of Security Forces.Governor stressed the need for undertaking case studies of the law and order problems being faced in various parts of the country to adequately understand the genesis  and the root causes of the various complex problems which are detrimental to and disturb societal peace and harmony. 

Governor underlined the vital importance of coming up with effective strategies to counter cyber propaganda besides acquiring a sound understanding of the larger issues facing the society as this would help the officers to contribute towards the establishment of a peaceful, non-violent and crime free society.Governor had discussions with the delegation about several issues relating to the need for understanding the perspectives of the various stakeholders and the reason why unrest arises; the role of social media in influencing the youth to take up stone-pelting against the security forces etc.The delegation comprised Sh. Vinay Kumar, Assistant Professor at the CPCS; Sh.Jai Pal Soni, Second-in Command, Border Security Force (BSF); Sh. Jatinder Pal Singh, Second-in Command, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sh. Mahender Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commandant, SSB; Sh. Rajesh Singh Yadav, Deputy Commandant, BSF; Sh. Satish Kumar Dahiya, Deputy Commandant, BSF; Sh. Suresh Singh, Deputy Commandant, CRPF; and Sh vijay Singh Khatana, Second-in Command, CRPF.
