Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri held its first annual convocation for the pass outs of its 2014, 2015 & 2016 batches. Charanjit Singh Channi, Minister for Technical Education & Industrial Training was the chief guest and A.V.Anantharaman, Chief Human Resources & Compliance Officer; Unichem Labs was the Guest of Honor. At the moment 12 students securing first positions in PTU exams were awarded Laptops & Gold medals while 116 others who captured second to tenth positions in PTU’s Merit Lists were given cash prize of Rs. 5000/- each along with gold medals. The toppers of each class were also given gold medals. Total 618 degrees were awarded including 309 of B. Tech.,188 of MBA , 49 of M. Tech., & others of BBA, B. Com. & BCA.Charanjit Singh Channi while speaking at the moment informed that a department for Research & Training, as well as Updating of the syllabi will be set up at MRS PTU, Bhatinda.
According to chief Guest Channi expressed his views that there was no dearth of jobs in the country but there is a dire need of employable persons. For this Government will give skill development training to 50,000 persons. He further advised the students not to remain contented with what they have already achieved. Instead, they should think higher & work for their set goal enthusiastically.Guest of Honour Anantharaman said that to be successful in life, the students should continuously upgrade their knowledge & should have clarity on what is to be done & how it is to be done. He advised them to be self confident & give a pat on their back for each milestone achieved by them. This will motivate them to work more vigorously.While welcoming the guests, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman CGC and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC advised the students to work hard in their respective companies so that the name of CGC Jhanjeri keeps on flying colours . Dr. G.D.Bansal, Director General highlighted the achievements of Jhanjeri students in academics, sports, projects & above all in their placements in leading companies of India.
