Reviewing the working of Agriculture sector, District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Friday asked the officers of agriculture department to gear up their field functionaries and work in unison for effective implementation of centrally sponsored and state sector schemes on ground.He instructed them to conduct frequent field visits and organise awareness camps to educate farmers about central government's crop insurance scheme, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and other schemes so that maximum benefits can be availed by the farmers. Dr. Shahid also directed Chief Agriculture Office (CAO), Younis Choudhary to submit block wise schedule of awareness camps.Highlighting the need of recommending requisite nutrients and fertilizers required for the individual farms to help farmers improve productivity through judicious use of inputs, Dr. Shahid asked the Agriculture authorities to issue soil cards to farmers carrying crop-wise recommendations. He also instructed CAO to strengthen soil testing lab in the district.Taking serious note of attachment of more than 35 employees outside the district, the DDC asked CAO to direct them to report back immediately in the district and withhold the salary of those who fail to report back.During the meeting, convergence with RDD in infrastructural works including works under RKVY was emphasised upon by the DDC and the CAO was asked to coordinate with RDD authorities to formulate block wise convergence plan.The DDC also sought a detailed proposal for compensation to farmers in Nowshera and Manjakote sector affected by recent cross-LoC shelling.
