Clashes post-Friday prayers erupted in several areas of Kashmir Valley against the killing of senior Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Sabzar Bhat and his aide last week at Tral in Pulwama district.According to GNS , scores of youth took to streets after culmination of Friday prayers who staged pro-freedom and anti-India protests. The youth assembled at Nowhatta Chowk and raised slogans in favour of Islam, Azadi and militants including Zakir Musa. The youth were holding flags of ISIS and posters in support of Zakir Musa.The youth later pelted stones on government forces deployed near Nowhatta police station. Amid outbreak of clashes between the two sides, the commercial and transport activities in the area came to a halt. The clashes continued for several hours in the area. One youth identified as Akash Riyaz son of Riyaz Ahmad resident of Jawahar Nagar Srinagar was detained by police at Nowhatta during clashes.
The clashes also erupted in Sopore Town of Baramulla district after Friday prayers. Reports reaching GNS said that massive clashes erupted between youth and government forces in Jama Masjid area of Sopore. Police fired dozens of teargas shells towards the youth. Reports said one policeman namely Fayaz Ahmad received eye and head injury after youth pelted stones on police vehicle enroute Kupwara along Sopore-Handwara road.Reports further said that clashes also raged at Pulwama Town, Rajpora Pulwama, Wayil Anantnag and Reshi Bazar Anantnag. Hundreds of youth resorted to stone-pelting on government forces. A lady was hurt at Reshi Bazar during clashes and she was referred to Hospital. She is stated to be stable.(GNS)
