Senior Congress leader and former chief minister Maharashtra, Prithvi Raj Chavan on Friday lashed out at the Government of India (GoI) as well as the state government for worsening the situation in the state.“I have never seen such bad situation before. I have visited the valley in previous as well but there is quite difference between the situations as at present, the situation is very much bad,” Chavan said while addressing a presser here at local hotel. He said that the central as well as the state governments are responsible for the current deteriorating situation in the state. “It is the responsibility of both the governments to normalize the situation in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.Refusing to comment over the commendation to an Army major who used a youth as human shield, Chaavan said, “I have heard that the Chief Minister has ordered inquiry in the incident. The investigation is yet to be completed and I believe it would be too early to speak over the issue and let the investigation complete first.”Chavan said, “The government has adopted muscular policy over the resolution of Kashmir issue. The Congress party when in rule tried to reach out to the people of all shades to resolve the issue.”
He also said that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has constituted a group, which would discuss every issue confronting with the people of Kashmir.Asked about the meeting between the Hurriyat leaders and the Mani Shankar Aiyar, Chavan said, “Mani Shankar has visited the Valley as the head of NGO.”Lashing out at Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for failing to fulfil promises on ground, Chavan said that Modi lacks talent to run the government. “The government in the centre under the leadership of Modi has completed its three of tenure and it has utterly failed to serve the people across India,” he said.He said that not even a single promise done with the people of Kashmir has been fulfilled so far. “The party in the government had promised several things but unfortunately they let down the people at all fronts,” he said, alleging that various scams are coming to fore in this regime.Saying that the unemployment is on rise in every nook and corner of India, Chavan said, “PM Modi had promised two crore jobs in one year but after completing three years, the six crore jobs are nowhere. Thus simultaneously, the current regime has betrayed the trust of people especially youth who cast their ballots keeping view of the tall claims,” he said. (KNS)
