Minister for Rural Development , Panchayati Raj , Law and Justice Abdul Haq along with Minister of State (MoS) Syed Farooq Andrabi today toured Dooru constituency in Anantnag district and reviewed the  progress of various ongoing developmental projects in the constituency besides attending a public Durbar.On the occasion, Minister said that under MGNREGA scheme, the department has been able to create very valuable, durable and sustainable assets in rural areas.

Giving details, Minister said the department constructed 22 KM roads, 18 Km lanes, 38 culverts, 6 play fields and 4 water harvesting tanks. He said under flood protection works, 4239 cubic meter bunds were constructed while micro irrigation works were also done under the scheme.Abdul Haq said the department has set a trend of creating durable assets under MGNREGA and has been successful in creation of numerous assets in rural areas.He said the dual focus of MGNREGA is on employment generation, creation of assets and its emphasis on natural resources management makes it an effective mechanism for co-creating benefits of social protection and climate resilience for vulnerable rural communities.MoS Farooq Andrabi on the occasion praised the Rural Development Department for helping in improving the socio-economic condition with the effective implementation of MGNREGA Schemes. He said community assets created under MGNREGA can play a crucial role by creating additional livelihood opportunities and providing community facilities.

The meeting was informed that MGNREGA in the Dooru constituency had an approved budget of Rs 6.82 crore. Out of this amount 6.64 crore were made available during the last fiscal and Rs 5.95 crore were spend by the end of the financial year 2016-17.It was also informed that 2.14 lakh man days were generated for 1.12 lakh job card holders of the constituency and out of which 114 persons completed 100 days job target. Officials further informed that 1056 works were taken up under the scheme costing Rs 12.02 crore and out of which 1025 works were completed during the last fiscal including spill over works.Ministers were informed that under anti-polythene drive 568 kilograms were collected by the officials while 41 kgs were seized from the shopkeepers and Rs 3670 were recovered as fine.Under IAY, meeting was informed that 150 units were taken up for construction and 60 units were completed by the end of the year. The department has also set a target for construction of 270 units under PMAY.The meeting was further informed that under IWMP the department constructed 27 Harvesting tanks, 20 Protection walls, 14 check dams,4 field channel, 7 farm ponds,  3 gabion structures besides land leveling and Rs 5.84 crore  were spend on these works.

Minister were also informed that under R&B sector including up-gradation of Larkipora Zaldoora Lisser road that will benefit more than sixty thousand souls and macadamization of 17 Kms. Meeting was also informed that 20 metres span Foot bridge at Reshipora Hergawas Kapran, Reshipora Hergawas Kapran, Qammer Doodwangan and Kuchipora Sangran Bridge will be completed by August this year.Under PMGSY 12 roads are being constructed in the constituency at the cost of Rs 21.20 crore.Later Ministers participated in Public Darbar which was attended by a large gathering of local residents. The locals apprised the minister about various problems faced by them. Minister gave patient hearing to the public and passed on-spot directions for the redressal of their grievances. The visiting ministers directed the officials to maintain close relation with the public   and redress their grievances.While interacting with the people, Ministers urged upon the locals to work as tool of social mobilization and act as eyes and ears of government by keeping vigil on the developmental projects and ensure transparency.They said government is working hard to reach out to people and ensure effective and efficient administration at the door steps of people. They said the aim of public Darbars is to ensure that less people visit secretariat to pursue and instead ministers reach at the door step of the people to listen to their grievances.Abdul Haq Khan, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi
