Gujjar Bakerwal Student Conference Thursday staged protest against the government for failing to provide them hostels.The GBSC members assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice’.They were demanding hostels and other facilities for students in Srinagar.According to KNS correspondent, the State Vice president of GBSC, Muhammad Aasif told media persons that two PG hostels including one in Jammu while another in Kashmir has been provided by the government.“The PG hostel of Jammu is being been run from three years while the Srinagar PG hostel is still non-functional,” he said, adding that this PG, hostel should be make functional for students of Gujjar community soon.He said that the hostel should run properly and make all the estimated materials available for the students.The protesting members of GBSC said that they were also ignored by the higher up in scholarships thereby result in immense hardships to the students.They demanded that the scholarships must be given to the community students immediately.The students alleged that Gujjar Bakerwal hostel of Pulwama is under Army since last 25 years and the other building provided by the authorities is totally devastated.The students of Gujjar hostel Pulwama demanded authorities to withdraw the Army from the building at earliest.They also urged higher ups to provide basic amenities to such hostels like Jammu.
