Reacting to the media reports that the Army Major who tied a Kashmiri youth Farooq Ahmed of Central Kashmir to the bonnet of a jeep as a "human shield" has been given a clean chit by the Court of Inquiry (CoI), senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader, Brinda Karat Monday termed the move as gross human rights violation and unacceptable.“In the light of the media reports, I can tell you that the Commission of Inquiry can’t justify this action that tantamount to gross human rights violation. It is completely reprehensible and we demand action against the guilty,” Brinda Karat told news agency CNS over phone from New Delhi.Pertinently, Army had convened a CoI on April 15 last month, two days after an FIR was filed by J&K Police into the human sheild incident, involving Major Nitin Gogoi from 53 Rashtriya Rifles.“Forget about your own people, even in a state of war, you can’t resort to such brutal tactics. Justifying such tactics is condemnable and shielding the erring army officer is most unfortunate. If media reports are correct, then CPI(M) condemns the move and demand action against the guilty,” Brinda Karat said.Expressing anguish over the deteriorating situation in Kashmir, Brinda Karat termed it the failure of PDP-BJP led government. She said it is unfortunate that incumbent Home Minister Rajnath Singh who talked about dialogue during his Kashmir visit has backtracked and has been talking in a different language now. “You can’t solve political issue through pellets and bullets,” she said.
