Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh, today chaired a high level meeting to review the progress of ongoing developmental projects in Jammu Division.The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Hirdesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, M. K. Bhandari, Inspector General of Police, Dr. S. D. Singh, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, M Raju among other senior officers of various departments.Dr. Nirmal Singh took a detailed review of works under different Centrally Sponsored Schemes and flagship programmes including Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Housing for All (HFA), Smart City, and National Urban Livelihood Mission.The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of various other key projects for traffic decongestion, intelligent traffic lights system, multi-tier parking and modernization of general bus stand Jammu.The Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned to expedite pace of work on respective projects for their completion in stipulated time. He asked the departments to work in tandem and keep focused attention to ensure quality in execution of projects and early completion of pending works. 

Dr. Singh said that the efforts of the officers should be towards timely redressal of bottlenecks and proper utilization of funds with timely submission of utilization certificates thereof which can considerably reduce delays in project completion. He further said that laxity and casual approach towards project implementation will be severely dealt with and strict action will be taken against the non-performing and erring officers.Deputy CM advised the officers to prepare project specific Gantt charts for maintaining a graphical overview and schedule of all tasks thereby indicating various work elements and other factors of project for their timely completion. “It is vital to keep a schedule of tasks for tracking project progress against its fixed timeline”, he said.In an attempt to enhance efficiencies of project implementing agencies, Dr. Nirmal Singh directed regular reviews of all the projects and programmes. He directed weekly project reviews to be undertaken by the Head of Departments (HODs), fortnightly reviews by the Commissioner Secretary and said that he himself would take monthly review of the pace of works.  

Later, while addressing a press conference, Deputy Chief Minister said that major projects apace in Jammu shall ensure better amenities to the people and change the developmental scenario. He said that the concerned department sare putting in concerted synergizes efforts to maintain dynamism in the ongoing projects and expressed hope that the team of officers will bring forth new ideas for innovative deliberations”, he stated.Later in the day, the Deputy Chief Minister also chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Power Development Department.Dr. Nirmal Singh directed the department to keep all preparations intact for catering to power requirements in the summer season. He also directed maintenance of buffer stock in the transformer bank to check transformer break downs and associated damages.The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, Ashwini Gupta and Executive Engineers of the concerned divisions.
