All Jammu and Kashmir Low Paid Government Employees Federation (AJKLPGEF) of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department Tuesday staged protest against the government for ‘failing to implement the order issued in the year 1991’.The member of the federation assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice’.The protesting members of the federation were demanding implementation of the order.Talking to KNS, the protesters said that an order was issued in the year 1991 when the governor’s rule was imposed in the state.“The order was regarding the technical/non technical posts for Jammu 1728 and 2128 for Kashmir. However, the order was implemented only in Jammu as 1919 candidates have been employed while the employees from Kashmir are yet to be selected,” the protesters said.Threatening to block the water supply, the protesting federation said that the government must take immediate steps to implement the order. “In case the order will not be implemented in one month, we will block the water supply across the Valley for which the government will be held responsible,” they added. The protesters appealed Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to look into the matter and fulfil their demands at earliest.
