Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today condemned the brutal killing of an Assistant Sub Inspector of Police while trying to prevent two Akali goons from harassing his daughter at Amritsar on Wednesday. He blamed the Akali minister Bikram Majithia for patronising the goons and criminals who had the audacity to kill an ASI who objected to the eve teasing of his daughter.Warning the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal against pushing Punjab towards lawlessness and jungle raj, he asked him, “better tame Bikram Majithia who has constituted a brand of criminals and is rewarding them with party posts”. He said, these people had no fear of law and they had become a law unto themselves. He said, the ASI could have been saved had the Akali goon and his associates not attacked him again while he was being taken to the hospital. “So much so the accused even fired at the police party that went to arrest him”, he pointed out, while asking Mr Badal as under whose patronage this all was going on?
The PCC President warned, Mr Badal turning blind eye to all that is happening around is going to prove dangerous for Punjab. “Mr Badal is not so nave not to understand that Majithia has created a criminal brigand to intimidate opponents which has no fear of law”, he remarked. The former Chief Minister pointed out, only a couple of months ago another Akali leader Nishan Singh abducted a girl in Faridkot after forcibly taking her away from her home and beating up and injuring her parents while the police tried to shield him continuously. And now another Akali leader had straightway shot dead a police officer, he pointed while asserting that the situation was going out of control. “Capt Amarinder said, merely suspending the police officials is not going to improve law you better tame your goons in Akali Dal and disband the Bikram Brigade”, he advised Mr Badal while asking if a policeman cannot be safe in today’s Punjab what should be the plight of the common man.
