Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, V.P.Singh Badnore today released the Red Cross Flag on the Red Cross Flag Day at Punjab Raj Bhavan. The Students of Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School Chandigarh pinned a Flag on the Punjab Governor and other officers in a brief function held in Punjab Raj Bhavan. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Badnore advocated for further strengthening the Red Cross Movement through massive collective effort, which is carrying out the noble mission of alleviating human sufferings through its fundamental doctrine of selfless service. The Governor said that Red Cross Day is observed all over the world, presents a great opportunity to learn about the international efforts of the Red Cross and also reminds us of our social obligation to contribute in minimizing the sufferings of humanity and to continue to adhere to the basic principles – humanitarianism, compassion, universality and voluntary service – that universally characterize the Red Cross. Mr. C.S.Talwar Secretary Red Cross, Punjab informed that in view of this year’s World Red Cross Day theme “Everywhere for everyone”, medical checkup camps will be organised by all the District Red Cross Branches at block level. Oath on “Jal Dhan” & “Van Dhan” will also be administered to the students across the state on the occasion of World Red Cross Day.Mr. M.P. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor, Punjab was also present on the occasion.
