Six members of a marriage party were killed when their car skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district early on Tuesday, police said. The accident occurred near Nerwa tehsil in Shimla district, some 190 km from here, where 45 passengers were killed last month when a private bus belonging to an Uttarakhand operator skidded off the road and fell into the Tons river, a tributary of the Yamuna. All the occupants of the car, who were returning from a marriage ceremony and belonged to areas near the accident site, died on the spot, Superintendent of Police D.W. Negi told reporters here. The dead included driver Mohan Singh, Surat Singh, Balwant Singh, Kanwar Singh, Bansi Lal and one unidentified person. The accident spot bordering Uttarakhand is one of the remotest places in the state.Scarcity of buses and poor frequency of government-run buses in this remote area are blamed for overloading of public transport and private vehicles.
