Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today called for joint efforts to preserve rich cultural heritage of Kashmir.The Div com said this after inaugurating an exhibition cum seminar organized by Directorate of Archives Archaeology and Museums to mark the World Heritage Day. The theme of this year’s World Heritage Day is ‘The Recent Findings and Rare Manuscripts’.The Div Com appreciated the department for making the part breaking numismatic and archaeological discoveries and ensured full support of the government in rediscovering the archaeological and numismatic wealth of the State.On the occasion, the Director Archives, Archaeology and Museums highlighted the role of the department in preserving and maintaining the cultural heritage of the State.He mentioned the steps taken in making the museums and monuments attractive for promoting the heritage tourism of the State.A special brochure prepared by the department was also released on the occasion.Director Central Asian Studies Kashmir University, writers, poets and other officials attended the seminar.Various recent findings displayed for the event include the wonderful terracotta tiles of Kotbal Anantnag Lethpora and numismatic hoard discovered at Barthana, Watnar and Nuner Budgam. Besides, the department displayed the rare collection of the Arabic, Persian Sharda and Gilgit Manuscripts for the general public.A large number of students also participated in the function and were taken to various galleries of the museum.
