Anguished over the killing of yet another innocent and unarmed youth at the hands of Indian forces in Batamaloo and ‘ruthlessly beating’ of more than fifty college students in Pulwama by the men in uniform, senior Hurriyat leader and Jammu Kashmir National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan Sunday condemned the ‘growing atrocities’ of police and other forces.Terming the killing of Sajad Hussain at Batamaloo as ‘a cold blooded murder’, Khan in a statement issued to KNS said, “Kashmiri youngsters are being massacred at the hands of Indian forces mercilessly especially after the statements of Indian army chief and Indian Home minister.” He said that Home minister and Army Chief have in fact ‘emboldened’ the men in uniform and they feel they have the license to kill anybody, anytime. Khan urged international community and human rights organisations to play their key role in stopping bloodshed and crimes against humanity by India in the disputed region.

He demanded that “perpetrators involved in killing of innocent Kashmiri people must be brought to justice”. JKNF chief said that unprovoked firing in Batamaloo which resulted in the martyrdom of Sajad Hussain is ‘an eye opener’ for the champions of human rights activists who should strongly come forward for the rescue of oppressed Kashmiris. He also strongly reacted to the beating of College students by forces at Pulwama and said that “men in uniform have been given free hand to kill, beat and harm Kashmiri youth who demand for their right of self determination promised at international level.” Referring to the heartbroken video clips where Indian army and CRPF personnel are shown beating, abusing and insulting youth, Khan said that “after every such incident it becomes more and more clear that India is an occupier and Kashmiris are being subjugated only on military might.”

He said that ‘brazenly beating’ students and killing innocent people on roads is nothing but a message to common Kashmiris that they are slaves of a large military power. “One reason of increasing Indian atrocities is the criminal collaboration of pro-India politician who for their meagre worldly benefits play the role of Mir Jafar and Sadiq,” he said.Khan said that police and other forces have launched a ‘cruel crackdown’ in nook and corner of the valley and youth are being ‘ruthlessly arrested, booked under fabricated cases and their career is being ruined’. “This is part of an Indian plan to push Kashmir into darkness,” he added. He said that placing political leaders behind bars and detaining them every now and then has only suffocated the atmosphere and people have been pushed to wall which will have ‘drastic consequences’.
