Department of Libraries organizes mentoring session for NEET aspirants

Department of Libraries and Research today organized counseling cum mentoring session at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground here for the students from Jammu region appearing in NEET-2017.The session was hosted by Vivek Gupta, a BTech from IIT Bombay who has counseled around 30000 students across the country on how to crack various competitive examinations. He gave tips and tricks to the students on how to prepare for and crack NEET.Over 300 students participated in the programme where they were mentored about study disciplines and techniques, reference material to prepare for national competitive examinations, with focus on the upcoming NEET 2017.Director Libraries and Research, Mukhtar-ul-Aziz, while briefing about the programme said that the department has come together with the Plancess EduSolutions who have developed the study material for NEET, to provide students with an elaborate array of references in print and digital formats including e-books, reference videos.

He said the Libraries department has also achieved distinction of being the first, pan India, to provide students access to these materials free of cost in public libraries across the state, with special attention on far-off, rural belts of the state.Aziz further said that seeing the positive response received from the students regarding this programme and the quality material being provided, the department will look into carrying forward this initiative and expand further.He informed that a similar counseling and mentoring session will be also held at Srinagar on April 16, 2017.Pertinently, the Department of Libraries and Research has, in a maiden effort, this year launched one of the biggest e-coaching and e-learning initiatives in J&K to provide quality coaching and comprehensive solutions free to the students aspiring to appear in NEET, JEE and CET.Under the initiative, IT-enabled learning material, including video lectures, e-books and written notes have been made available free of cost in the government libraries across the state to facilitate students to prepare for NEET, JEE, CET and other competitive examinations. Nearly 2,500 plus hours of video lectures, 75,000 questions with answers, 150 e-books and hard books are being made available to the students in the public libraries across the State.
