District administration organized a function at Teacher Bhawan to celebrate the successful culmination of Digi Dhan Melas held across the country beginning on 25thDecember, 2016.Commissioner Secretary Information Technology , Tribal Affairs and Technical Education, Sanjeev Verma was the Chief Guest on the occassion while Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Anuradha Gupta presided over the function.Senior officers of district administration, education and Information Technology department teachers, students and people in large number were present on the occasion.Important public sector as well as private sector banks and other stakeholders installed their stalls at the venue and provided information related to digital initiatives, mobile apps and also provided services like instant opening of bank accounts, Aadhar seeding of accounts, distribution of POS machines etc.
Mr Verma while speaking on the occasion exhorted upon the people to participate and encourage the digital initiatives being introduced by the Govt. He emphasized that J&K is an equal partner in responding to these initiatives at par with other progressive States in the country. He expressed hope that these initiatives will transform the social and economic fabric of the State Various cultural items, open house quiz competition and extempore speeches were held during the programme to highlight the importance of digital transactions. However, the highlight of the function was the live telecast of the programme at Nagpur for which special arrangements were made by the district administration. At the culmination function at Nagpur coinciding with the Ambedkar Jayanti, the Prime Minister announced the winners of mega lucky draws and also spoke about the empowerment of common and poor citizens through digital literacy.
