Residents of Mehjoor Nagar area of Srinagar city Wednesday staged protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department accusing it of failing to provide water supply.The residents mostly females who assembled on the main road of Jawahar Nagar carrying empty buckets blocked traffic on the road.The protestors said that the authorities have failed to provide adequate water supply to them from past week. “We have to go nearby localities to fetch water. We have several times taken up the matter with the concerned officials. Despite assurances, nothing has been done on ground,” they said. “We are facing immense hardships due to water scarcity,” they added.They appealed Chief Engineer PHE to look into the matter.Police and civil administration officials who rushed to spot assured them of solving their problem.
