District Administration is dedicating the upcoming Baisakhi Festival to Swachh Bharat Mission and reinforcing the message of cleanliness, sanitation and  hygiene among the local populace.District Development Commissioner Niraj Kumar communicated this during a meeting convened to discuss arrangements for the three day Baisakhi festival to be held at Devika Ghat from April 13.While discussing various arrangements, DDC asked officers and prominent citizens to work in close coordination to make the Mela a grand success. He also emphasized maintaining cleanliness at Devika Ghat and ensuring no use of polythene during the event.Directions were passed to ensure sufficient first aid facilities at the venue, installation of dustbins and temporary toilets, deputing sweepers, adequate power and water supply besides display of rate list for all edible items at the Mela site.

Further, various departments including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Floriculture, Handicrafts were directed to put up stalls for generating awareness among common masses about various Government schemes.It was informed that Information Department in collaboration with Field Publicity Unit, Udhampur and Education Department will also be organizing a number of cultural programmes at the event.Meanwhile, Tehsildar Udhampur was appointed as the Mela Officer for the event.ADC Avny Lavasa, ACR Subhash Dogra, CPO Ashok Khajuria, CMO Dr. K.C Dogra, GM DIC Angrez Singh, PO-DRDA Dr. Jagdish Chander Mehra, Chief Horticulture Officer R.K Koul, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. B.B Feria, Ex-En PDD, AD FCS&CA Haroon Naik besides various district officers and prominent citizens were present in the meeting.
