The intermittent rains continued to lash Valley on the second consecutive day on Wednesday while the traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway was halted for hours following the slippery conditions of roads at Ramban and Nagrota. The officials in the Meteorological (MeT) department had said that the weather would continue to remain wet till Friday evening. “There is possibility of heavy to moderate rains in the next two days,” the officials had added. They also predicted occasional sunshine during the next two days.Meanwhile, the intermittent rains from Tuesday morning has resulted in the inundation of city areas including Batamaloo, Habba Kadal, Fateh Kadal, Baba Demb, Khanyar, Noor Bagh, Nowhatta, Niak Bagh, Natti Pora and others. The residents of the areas said that they are facing immense hardships due to the water logging in their areas and appealed to the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) higher ups to redress their grievances.Meanwhile, the officials in the traffic department told KNS that the landslides occurred at Ramban and Nagrota halted the traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only raod connecting the Valley with rest of the states for hours. “The one way traffic coming from Jammu-Srinagar was halted due to the slippery conditions of the roads at Ramban and Nagrota but the roads were cleared immediately and the traffic which remained halted for hours was allowed to ply towards their destinations,” he informed KNS.He said that in case of feasible weather conditions, the traffic from Srinagar-Jammu will be allowed to ply on Thursday.
